Although many of us may never have the resources to actually dine at one of these world-renowned restaurants it sure is fun to see what these creative, awe-inspiring, artists are creating with food. This month I'm recommending a little food porn for your viewing pleasure. Netflix's docu-series Chef's Table highlights some of the most talented and visionary chef's in the world today. Chefs who are pioneering their own style of cooking and relentlessly pursuing their dream. What's not inspiring about that? You get to join along in the discovery of new and exciting ways these chef's play with flavors, texture, and color to create some of the most truly mouth-watering delicacies and enviable dishes.
There are 2 seasons of Chef's Table and each season highlights 6 different chefs; men and women from all over the world. Plop down on the couch, cozy up with a cup of tea, and start from the beginning. You won't regret it.
Although the goal of watching Chef's Table is truly just for foodie pleasure there were some take-aways for me. Watching chefs prepare the most interesting, exotic, and different dishes than I could ever imagine on my own is actually pretty inspirational. It emboldens me to take chances and be creative with my cooking. It excites me to get in the kitchen and try some new things. It reminds me that cooking is an art as much as it is a science and the goal is to create. It's also a good reminder that the dish (even your home-cooked meal) will never be better than the quality of products you're starting with. I firmly believe that the quality of your food is the most important part of cooking. Not just for the health benefits but for the taste and flavor of your meals as well. Start with the best quality ingredients you can afford, preferably what's in season and local, add in some creativity and sprinkle with some love. I see some new and delicious meals in your future.
